And supposedly, the bass doesn't go through the walls to bother your neighbors if you live in an apartment. The extra bass was fantastic! The speakers didn't bottom out since they are not truly producing that extra low bass, but you do hear it clearly. The speakers are a pair of the Pioneer bookshelf SP-B521. The DBO-1 went between the pre-amp and amp (or you can use an in/out loop in your pre-amp). I think they designed this to compliment their on-wall speakers which lack in bass if used without a sub. In short, it's supposed to combine certain frequencies to "create" lower frequencies - ones that the speaker can't produce, but your mind hears it. This works on the Maxxbass technology by Wave Audio. Recently, I got my hands on an ArtAcoustic DBO-1 Bass Optimizer.
